Fred L. Rond, 83, of Hobbs, New Mexico, passed away on February 20, 2014
at his home surrounded by his loved ones. Mr. Rond was born April 3, 1930 in Natchitoches, Louisiana, to Sanders and Mary Ruth Rond.
Freddie married his wife, Homerie, in Louisiana on December 20, 1948. He worked at Hobbs Pipe and Supply for 35 years. Mr. Rond then went to work at Rice Engineering, where he retired after a number of years.
Mr. Rond was known for his meticulous nature, which showed when he painted houses, and mowed yards. Freddie loved Western music, and enjoyed watching the golf channel. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them. Mr. Rond was a member of United Pentecostal Church.
Mr. Rond is survived by two daughters, Peggy Smith and husband Kenny, of Hobbs, and Carolyn Necaise, of Hobbs one son, Lloyd Rond and wife Lisa, of Hobbs brother Wilmer Rond, of Shreveport, Louisiana sister Barbara Flora and husband Paul, also of Shreveport seven grandchildren, Daniel, Dylan, and Dustin Rond of Hobbs, Becky Tubbs and husband Oren of Hobbs, Chris Necaise of Roswell, Paula and Kerry Manis of Hobbs, and Darla Kiziah and husband Steve Mares of Hobbs and five greatgrandchildren, K.T. and Kasen Manis, Jesse Kiziah, and Stormie and Travis Fisher, all of Hobbs.
Freddie was preceded in death by his wife Homerie Rond.
Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Friday, February 21, 2014 at Chapel of Hope Funeral Home, and from 8:00 to 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 22, 2014. Funeral services will be held at Chapel of Hope, 10:00 a.m., Saturday, February 22, 2014, officiated by K.T. Manis and Jesse Kiziah. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens, Hobbs, New Mexico.
