Memorial services will be held Friday, August 13, 2010, 2:00 p.m. at Jal Church of Christ for Frank C. Gage, who passed from this life August 10, 2010, in Hobbs, New Mexico. Frank was born March 25, 1933, in Flagg, Texas, to Leonard C. and Maude E. Gage. Minister Daryl Micham will officiate.
Frank married June Marshall December 26, 1959, in Littlefield, Texas. When he was in high school in Littlefield, he played football and the team won the only state championship Littlefield claims title to in 1949. Later Frank and the team were inducted into the Texas High School Hall of fame. He attended college at Hardin Simmons in Abilene, Texas, where he played football and he also played football and received his degree from Eastern New Mexico University in Portales, New Mexico. Gage taught in several schools in the Texas school system. In 1967 he came to Jal to teach history and coach football. He retired from coaching in the late 70s and then retired from teaching in the late 80s. He was a member of the Jal Church of Christ.
Frank is survived by his wife June, of the home two sons, Brent and wife Jeanne of Amarillo, Texas, and Guy and wife Teresa of Ft. Worth, Texas a brother L. C. Gage, Lubbock, Texas three sisters, Wanda Paul of Lubbock, Texas, Shirley Huffaker, Plano, Texas, and Celesta McWilliams of Littlefield, Texas 6 grandchildren and 6 greatgrandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and two sisters.
