Francis Gartman, 87, peacefully entered Heavenly rest on Sunday, March 18, 2007 at Hobbs Health Care Center.
Francis was born December 25, 1919 to parents Luther and Nettie Stephens in Comanche County, Texas, and attended school in the Klondike comshy;munity. In 1941 she married Bill Cornett and moved to Hobbs where he served as passhy;tor at Castle Avenue Baptist and Rock Chapel churches.
She was employed by Montgomery Ward and retired from Bonanza Fabric in 1984. Francis was a longtime member of Bel Aire Baptist Church. In 1988, she married a longtime acquaintance, Truman Gartman. During her retirement years she was a member of the Good Samaritan Villages Ladies Auxiliary and sold Avon. She also enjoyed traveling, sewing, gardening, cooking, reading, and visiting with friends. Francis was a loving Christian mother and grandshy;mother and was admired by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Truman Gartman; her sister, Camille Deatheridge and a sister Juanita Stack.
Her survivors include a daughter, Brinda Childs of Hobbs; a son, Doyle Cornett of Carlsbad, N.M.; a grandson, Dennis Cornett and wife Peggy of Kingman, Ariz.; a grandson, Terry Cornett of Kingman, Ariz.; a grandshy;daughter, Sherry Townsend of Kingman, Ariz.; two granddaughters, Melissa Bessinger Sorrells and husband Galen of Dunn, Texas, and Kim Bessinger Montes and husshy;band Ralph of New Windsor, N.Y; and eight great-grand children.
