Fay Stockton

d. July 30, 2015

Fay grew up in Lewisburg, TN. After graduating from Marshall County High School, she moved to Odessa, TX where she acquired a business degree. She then married Jim Metz in Hobbs, NM, where they raised their daughter, Kim Metz Sheldon. After the passing of Jimmy, she married Roy (Grizz) Stockton. In 1998, Fay and Roy moved to Midland to be near her daughter and her granddaughters.

Fay was an incredible woman, loving wife, and the best mother to her daughter, Kim Sheldon and her son, Scott Brian. She adored her granddaughters, Katie Warden and Melissa Sheldon. She was blessed with a beautiful great-granddaughter, Briley Slater. Even though she only had four short months with her, they were the best. Fay worked for New Mexico Electric Service Company for seventeen years. She was an active member of the Hobbs Moose Lodge and served as Senior Regent. After her retirement with New Mexico Electric, she became the "Lyric Lady" for KPER radio station, where she loved being a local celebrity. After moving to Midland, Fay worked at Reliable Life Insurance Company. Fay, well known as Mimi, had a unique sense of humor. She was a character of her own. Her quick and dry sense of humor kept people laughing. Mimi always enjoyed being around her family and friends. Her bubbly personality kept people rolling. She was a true Southern Belle, quite the avid Texas Hold'em player, and enjoyed passing the time with cross-stitching. She was also a member of First Christian Church of Midland, TX.

Fay is survived by her husband, Roy Dan Stockton; daughter, Kim Metz Sheldon; granddaughters, Katie Warden and Melissa Sheldon; great-granddaughter, Briley Slater; brother, Kelly Cheatham- all residing in Midland, TX; sisters and brother-in-law; Charlene Garing, Rex Stockton, Zenna Cox, and Nelda Howl; and several nieces, nephews, and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Elizabeth Cheatham of Hobbs; husband, Jimmy E. Metz of Hobbs; son, Scott Brian; and sister, Annette Harris of Seminole.
Fay will be terribly missed, she was definitely one of a kind.
