On December 29, 2013 Father Dennis Fountain went to be with his Lord after a brief stay at the Texas Heart Institute in Houston, Texas.
His life will be celebrated by a host of friends and former parishioners. A rosary is scheduled for 6:00 pm, Thursday, January 23, 2014. A funeral mass, officiated by Father Juan Carlos, will be held at 10:00 am, Friday, January 24, 2014 at St Helena Catholic Church, where Father Dennis proudly served as pastor for 9 years before retiring in 2009.
Later this spring a second memorial celebration will be held in Warren, Michigan, where Father Dennis was born in 1938, the youngest of nine children. He is preceded in death by his brother Mr. Bernard Fountain and his wife Ruth, sister Mrs. Clarice Henshaw Miller and her husbands Sherman and Larry, sister Ms. Alice Fountain, and his sisterinlaw Delores James Fountain. He is survived by five of his nine siblings: Mrs. Betty Fountain Mazza, Mrs. Audrey Fountain Downey and her husband Norman, Mr. James Wally Fountain, Mrs. Doris Fountain Moroschan, and Mr. Wilfred Fountain and his wife Cathy, 35 nieces and nephews, many friends in the Detroit area, and throughout the country.
Having led a very full life with time as a waiter, soldier, Chrysler employee, reserve policeman, Father Dennis found his greatest happiness in Hobbs, New Mexico serving the parishioners of St. Helena and enjoying life with all his friends in the Hobbs community. At his request, his final resting place will be in Hobbs, among his friends. In lieu of flowers, Father Dennis requested contributions be made to St. Helenas Building Fund.
