alignjustifyFannie Mae Jackson Gipson was born April 18, 1914, in Waurika, Oklahoma. She went to be with her Lord and Savior August 13, 2009, at the age of 95. Funeral services will be Monday, August 17, 2009, at Chapel of Hope Funeral Home. Visitation will be 1-6 p.m. Sunday at Chapel of Hope Funeral Home with the family in attendance from 5 -6 p.m. A private family graveside service will take place at Prairie Haven Memorial Park.
alignjustifyFannie resided at Desert Gardens assisted living facility for the last year and a half. She had lived in Hobbs since 1937 and owned and operated two grocery stores, West Side Grocery on West Broadway and Gipson's Grocery on East Alameda alongside her husband, Neil Gipson. After she got out of the grocery business, she worked at Wal-Mart, baby sat and ironed for the public for several years before finally retiring at the age of 90.
alignjustifyShe was a faithful member of NorthGate Free Will Baptist Church since 1953. She had 10,000 volunteer hours and a lifetime membership with the Pink Ladies.
alignjustifyFannie is survived by her daughter, Gwen Dismuke and husband Don of Hobbs; a son-in-law, Fred Sparger of Vernal, Utah; a sister, Jessye Cecil and husband Oreath of Hobbs; four grandchildren, Donna Dismuke Dean, Joel Dismuke, James Sparger and Betsy Cuch; eleven great-grandchildren; twelve great-great-grandchildren; and one great-great-great-grandchild.
alignjustifyShe was preceded in death by her parents, Jeff and Hannah Jackson; her husband, Neil; her son, R.H. Gipson; her daughter, Jo Helen Sparger; her sisters, Ruby Sparkman, Pauline Hill and Madaliene Shelton; and two brothers, Lee and Lawrence Jackson.
