Fairy Lee Black, 88, passed away peacefully in her sleep on August 13, 2020. She and her heart worked tirelessly with unwavering strength until the very end.
Fairy was born, along with her twin brother (J.C.) on November 29, 1931 to James and Dovie Hulse in Littlefield, TX. They along with her two older sisters, Clendell and Claudine, were raised as farmers until all three sisters decided to leave the family business and become nurses. Fairy would ultimately be known as a knowledgeable and trusted nurse by all friends and family up to her dying day.
Fairy met and soon after married Loyd Black, her partner for life, in Muleshoe, TX on February 28, 1948. Soon after, they became parents of two sons, Loyd, Jr. and Tommy Jay. They moved to Eunice, New Mexico in search of gainful employment in the oilfield for Loyd and became lifelong residents of Southeast New Mexico. Fairy was a nurse for many years in Eunice and then afterward in Hobbs. She raised her two boys and helped raise their three sons after them with nothing but unconditional love and patience. She enjoyed camping, gardening, baseball, and bird watching, but nothing gave her more joy than cooking for her loved ones and watching all of her grand and great grandkids.
Fairy was preceded in death by both parents, her twin brother, both sisters, her loving husband, both sons, and her grandson, Keegan Black. She is survived and will forever be missed by, two grandsons, James Black of San Angelo, TX and Chad Black of Hobbs, NM, seven great-grandsons and two great-granddaughters and two great-great-granddaughters. And let us not forget numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, some wonderful bonus family and some dear friends.
Fairy’s spirit, love, and legacy will never be forgotten!
