Everette Eugene Gene Sergent, 60, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Friday, May, 2, 2014 in Hobbs, New Mexico. He was born on May 24, 1953 in Ocala, Florida where he graduated from high school and attended college. He spent many years living and working in Pennsylvania and Connecticut. Gene was dedicated to and respected within the nuclear industry. He received many awards and accolades, most recently The Star Award from Urenco, USA, where he was employed at the time of his death. He also enjoyed volunteer work, especially Urencos 911 service projects.

Gene was an avid gunsmith and firearms collector. He enjoyed deep sea fishing, hunting and scuba diving. He was very handy he never passed up an opportunity to fix something. He and his faithful companion, Keeper, enjoyed spending time together in the man cave watching westerns.

Gene married Rachel Gatchell Williams on August 9, 2008 in Las Vegas, Nevada. He is survived by his wife Rachel Sergent of the home daughter Stephanie Collman, soninlaw Matthew Collman, granddaughters Adrianna Collman and Alexandra Collman and grandson Keagan Collman, all of Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania stepdaughters Kana Williams and BreeAnne Williams of the home and countless friends and colleagues.

Gene will lie in state from 8 a.m. 6 p.m., Wednesday, May 7, 2014 and Thursday, May 8 from 8 a.m. 2 p.m., at Chapel of Hope, in Hobbs, New Mexico. His service will be held at Chapel of Hope on Thursday, May 8, 2014 at 2 p.m.
