Everett Thomas

February 26, 1911 — April 25, 2007


Mr. Thomas, 96, died April 25, 2007, at Hobbs Health Care Center. He was born Jan. 26, 1911, in Campbell, Mo. He married Lela Cates Thomas in 1934 in Piggott, Ark.

Mr. Thomas lived in Pine Bluff, Ark, for 34 years before retiring to Hobbs, N.M. He had worked for the Cotton Belt Railroad for 42 years. After retiring, Mr. Thomas worked for the Boys and Girls Club in Hobbs for 18 years. He was a lifetime member of the Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way. Mr. Thomas was a member of the Hobbs Masonic Lodge No. 63 and had been a Mason for 70 years.

He was a member of First Baptist Church in Hobbs, N.M.

Survivors include a son, Jerry L. Thomas and wife, Marie, of Hobbs, N.M.; a daughter-in-law, JoAnn Thomas of Hobbs, N.M.; four grandchildren; and four greatshy;grandchildren.

Mr. Thomas was preceded in death by his wife in 1982; his parents; one sister, two brothshy;ers; and a son, Smokey Thomas.
