Everett Allen Hodge, II

Everett "Allen" Hodge II, 66, of Hobbs, NM passed away, Friday, May 10th, 2024, after a lengthy illness, in the comfort of his home in Hobbs. Allen was surrounded by his wife, Jana and their daughter, Chelsey. Allen fought hard for 4.5 years, up until his last breath on earth. We, Jana and Chelsey, find peace and comfort knowing that he is no longer suffering and with Our Heavenly Father, God.

Allen was born, July 2, 1957, at the Camp Pendleton Naval Hospital in Oceanside, CA. Allen's family moved to Texas when Allen was 4 years old. Allen always said he was "Texan" through and through, graduating from Spur High School in 1976. Allen's job with Shell Oil Co transferred him to Gainesville, TX in 1981, where he met Jana. Shell Oil Co transferred Allen to Denver City, TX 1982, where he wed Jana in November 1982 and became a father to Chelsey in 1984. Allen moved his family to Hobbs, NM in 1994, where he has resided with Jana for 30 years.

Allen started his environmental career in 1992 and that is what brought Allen and family to Hobbs as he was offered an opportunity to be a partner in an environmental company. Allen and Jana began Phoenix Environmental LLC in 2001. Allen mentored his son-in-law, Daniel, beginning in 2007. They worked side by side for 15 years and Allen will tell anyone that those 15 years he spent working with Daniel were the best years of his life. To Allen, it was as if he was working with his own son, not a son-in-law.

Allen always believed in giving people 2nd, 3rd, 4th chances, because he had a heart of gold that truly wanted the best for everyone. Allen was a father figure and mentor to many over his lifetime and that brought him great joy, which included numerous childhood friends of their daughter, Chelsey, who are now adults, some with families of their own.

Allen's passion in life was fishing: from fishing in a bass tournament, where he was a member of the Hobbs Bass Club, to crappie fishing off a dock at Possum Kingdom that was his home away from home to sport fishing in Cabo. It did not matter; he was going fishing. Allen told everyone that when he was in the boat on the water, was when he was the closet to God. He would say he could feel the presence of his Lord and Savior with him. Allen was literally a fisher-of-men.

The last 10 years of his life was filled with the Greatest Gift to him from God, his grandson, Brayden "Allen" Schindler. Brayden made Allen's life complete. He babysat, he took Brayden everywhere with him, he took Brayden on his first sport fishing trip, he took Brayden bird hunting, he took Brayden to the deer lease. When Brayden was around Allen, no one else existed. They were the team of "Big-Caw and Boo" and always will be.

Allen is survived by his wife of 41 years, Jana; daughter and husband Chelsey and Daniel Schindler and grandson, Brayden Allen Schindler, Graham, TX; father and stepmother, Everett and Ann Hodge, Denver City, TX; sister and husband, Suzan and Mike Ramage, Spur, TX; brother, Michael Hodge, Springtown, TX; sister and husband, Shanna and Randy Hamilton, Shallowater, TX; half-sister and husband, Elizabeth and Ron Gilbert, Paducah, TX; stepbrother, Rodney Polston, Possum Kingdom Lake, TX; numerous nieces and nephews.

Allen was proceeded in death by his mother, Betty Henry, father-in-law and mother-in-law, Robert and Lois Baker; maternal grandparents, Searcy and Edna Henry; paternal grandparents, Delma and Ruby Hodge.
