Evelyn Shultz was born Oct. 15, 1915, to Ruth Burroughs Cox and Hugh L. Cox in Hot Springs, Ark. She passed away April 15, 2007, at home in Hobbs, N.M.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, April 19, 2007, at Chapel of Hope Funshy;eral Home. Pastor Devin Birdsong will officiate.
Evelyn attended college at Chillicothe, Mo., and from there she was hired to do stashy;tistical work at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. during World War II. She worked for Cathey Co. as a bookkeeper in Hobbs for many years.
There will be a private famishy;ly viewing. A book is available for friends to sign at Chapel of Hope.
Survivors include a son, Fred Shultz of Hobbs; a daughter, Carmie Shoemake of Hobbs; a granddaughter, Bridget Sipes of Albuquerque; a grandson, Bryan Shoemake of Fort Worth, Texas; a sister, Maxine Prendergast of Redlands, Calif.; a brother, J.R. Cox of Austin, Texas; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Vera Pierce of Lubbock, and a brother, Ewing W Cox of Hobbs.
Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
