Evelyn Raydene Bell Dennis of Hobbs, N.M., passed away on Monday, March 10, 2008, at her home after a courashy;geous five year battle with canshy;cer. She was 71 years old.
Raydene was born Sept. 23, 1936, in Douglas County, Mo., to the late Cecil Bell and Hazel Pool Bell-Bushong.
Raydene married Clifford Dennis on Oct. 2, 1957, in West Plains, Mo. They moved to Hobbs, N.M., in 1960. The coushy;ple was blessed with two chilshy;dren, Evelyn and Cecil. She will be remembered as a devoted wife, mothshy;er, loving grandmothshy;er and loyal friend. Her faith and belief in God sustaishy;ned her durshy;ing her five shy;year jourshy;ney with cancer. She was a member of the Life Temple UPC Church.
Raydene will remain in the hearts of her husband of 50 years, Clifford Dennis; her children, daughter Evelyn O'Connell and son-in-law Tim O'Connell of Midland, Texas, and son Cecil Dennis and daughter-in-law Cindy Dennis of Hobbs, N.M.; her grandchilshy;dren, Brandon and Joshua Luck of Midland, Texas, and Jessica Dennis of Hobbs, N.M. She is also survived by four sisters, Dorothy Curtis and Mayme Lambdin, Betty Souder, all of Missouri, and Virgie Himioben of Georgia; and one brother, Melvin Bushong of Missouri.
She was preceded in death by her father, Cecil Bell in 1940; her mother, Hazel Pool Bell Bushong in 1984; her stepfashy;ther, Orville Bushong in 2001, two sisters, Bernice Walker and Leatha Kirkpatrick of Missouri; and four brothers, Marvin Bushong, Buck Bushong and Ben Bushong of Missouri and Loin Bushong of Illinois; her grandparents, Maggie Hicks Pool in 1970 and George Pool in 1957, Vianna Loveall Bell in 1971 and C.C. Lum Bell in 1983.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, March 13, 2008, at Chapel of Hope Funeral Home, 3321 N. Dal Paso, Hobbs, NM, with Pastor Wilbur Boone, Pastor Jason Tippy and Pastor Wayne Villar officiatshy;ing. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. today at Chapel of Hope Funeral Home with the family greeting friends from 68 p.m.
Burial will be in Drury, Mo., at Pleasant Home Cemetery.
A second funeral service will be conducted at Clinking Beard Funeral Home, 408 N.E. Fifth St., Ava, Mo., with visitashy;tion from 46 p.m. Sunday, March 16, and 10 a.m. Monday, March 17, at the Missouri funeral home.
