Mrs. Allen, 88, died Sunday, August 22, 2021 at her son’s home in Hobbs, NM of Co-Vid Pneumonia. She was born October 31, 1932 in Florence, Missouri. She married Earl C. Allen on January 11, 1952 in Missouri and they later moved to Hobbs, NM in 1957.
She worked for the Hobbs Schools in the Houston Junior High Snack Bar for over 30 years. She was lovingly referred to by many of the students simply as Grandma.
She taught 3- and 4-year-olds at Northside Baptist Church for 30 years. She shared many a story, out of the mouth of babes, that brought such joy to her heart. She was an active member of Crosswinds Community Church in Hobbs, NM. She lived her life as an example of how a good Christian should live. She loved her church and her church family. She was one of the best dessert bakers which her church family will attest to.
She loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren with all her heart. They will always remember her as a kind, loving, caring and selfless mother who put everyone before herself.
Survivors include her sisters, Violet Bowman of Brewster, KS and Ruth Davis of Clark, MO. Her children, Mike and Donahsue Allen of Hobbs, NM, Dennis and Linda Allen of Jal, NM and Sandy and David Schulz of Artesia, NM. Her grandchildren, Scott Allen of Hobbs, NM, Marissa and Alan Gilbreath of Decatur, TX, Michelle and Ian Hancock of Midland, TX, Jason Allen of Hobbs, NM. Her great grandchildren, Nicholas Johnson, Courtney and Cody McCormick, Paetyn Johnson, Brent Allen, Alexis Gilbreath, Clayton Allen, Jace Schiel, Isaac Gilbreath, Madison Allen, Alayna Allen, Andrew Allen and Maddox Allen.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl C. Allen, her grandmother Clara Griffing, her mother Bessie Nibert, her grandsons John Robert Allen, Danny Schulz and beloved grand dog, Hooter.
A very special thank you to Rebekah, Catherine and Amber of Star Care Hospice for the care and support they gave to mom and our family during her illness.
