Funeral services for Eunice Payne, will be Saturday, 10:00 am, July 6, 2013 at Little Zion Baptist Church with Elder Winford Gibson officiating. Place of rest will be in the Prairie Haven Cemetery under the direction of Chapel of Hope Funeral Home.
Mrs. Payne, a dedicated caregiver, died Sunday, June 30, 2013, at her residence with her family at her side.
A native of Elkart TX, she was born January 28, 1936 to parents Edd and Margie Benton. She married Floyd Payne Sr. September 4, 1953,in Palestine, TX. and together they raised nine children. Eunice was raised in Palestine. She was a longtime member of New Hope Baptist Church in Lovington, NM, then late in life attended Little Zion Baptist Church in Hobbs, NM. She enjoyed fishing, reading, antiquing, and doll collecting.
Until illness forced her to retire, Mrs. Payne was an inhome caregiver. She worked previously for Good Samaritan, then Leaders Industries.
Mrs. Payne was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Payne Sr. and three sons: Floyd Payne Jr., Lloyd Payne and Rodney Payne. She leaves to cherish her memory one son William Payne, Mae and five daughters Barbara Morgan Steve Darlene Brooks, Sandra Marshall, Sharon Payne, Pam Harris Bobby two brothers Eddie Mac Benton and Arthur Benton twenty grandchildren 26 great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
