Eric Luevano, 49, of Hobbs, NM passed away on April 11th, 2024, after a tragic car accident.
Eric was born in Hobbs, NM to Elias (BB) and Carmen Luevano on November 8, 1974. He was a loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle, friend, coach and so much more to so many.
He grew up and graduated from Lovington High school in 1993 and joined the Navy from March 1, 1994 - November 28,1996 and was assigned to the USS Blue Ridge. When he returned home, he moved to Hobbs and met his soulmate, Melissa, and they married April 17, 2004, and had a wonderful but short almost 20 years of marriage.
Eric worked at Navajo Refinery for the last 16 years. He was a lead operator and served as a firefighter for the Navajo Fire Brigade where he created an environment of safety, fun, and family, even at work. He made sure to do his job but to make it a place that he and his co-workers felt like family.
Eric's pride and joy was his "Wifa", Melissa and his "Baby girl", Kambree, which no matter her age, she would forever be his baby girl. He was Kambree's #1 fan of everything. He was her soccer coach, her dance dad, her PTA dad, the crosswalk volunteer, her classroom dad, her soccer booster dad and any and everything that involved Kambree, he was there. He always joked that he would work all the overtime in the world to ensure Melissa and Kam were taken care of and could enjoy all of their hearts' desires, including Melissa's morning coffees and papers before she went to work. Not only did he work the overtime, but he made sure to be truly present in any and everything they were involved in doing. He didn't spoil them, but he blessed them with all the unconditional love he had. He truly was the best dad and husband.
Eric never met a stranger, and if you were his friend and ran into him anywhere, you were prepared to be there for a while catching up and chatting. He made you feel special and shared his heart, his jokes, and his love for all his family and friends. He was loud and hilarious, and you could always count on him to have a joke, a slang, or a nickname for you. One thing you could count on was to laugh or say "oh, Eric", when you were in his presence. He was an avid Hobbs Eagle, Texas Tech and Dallas Cowboys fan, and you could count on him to cheer the loudest at any game he went to. To know Eric was to love him and he will be forever missed.
Eric is survived by his loving wife, Melissa Luevano, and his baby girl, Kambree Luevano, his father Elias (BB) Luevano, his mother, Carmen Luevano, his brother Martin Luevano (Yahayra), his sister Lisa Maria Blackman (Emily), his special Aunt, Ida Perez (Ismael-deceased), father-in-law Chumel Ponce, his mother-in-law, Nora Ponce, his sisters-in-law, Yvonne Villalobos (Freddie), Monica Nevarez (Jesus), April Hargrove (Rusty), his brother-in-law, Manuel (Jasmine), many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
