Emma Will Lewis was born to Charlie and Willie Lewis on January 30,1930 in Columbus, Mississippi. In 1954 she relocated to Hobbs, NM. She took her first heavenly breath on September 18, 2022.
Emma was known to her loved ones as a devoted sister, mother, and friend. She took great pride in helping those in need, including many foster grandchildren of the state of New Mexico. Emma thoroughly enjoyed family gatherings where she spread wisdom through her stories and advice and laughter through jokes and pranks. Her golden spirit and positive attitude were contagious and uplifted those around her.
Emma is preceded in death by her parents, brothers Collier, George, and Isaac Lewis, and sisters Mardis Berry and Hattie Thompson.
Emma leaves behind to cherish her memories her sisters Levora York of Hobbs, NM and Laura Dean of Odessa, TX, five sons David Bookert (Dorothy) of Katy, TX, Claude Heavens of Santa Clarita, California, Lester Heavens (Cheryl) of Castaic, CA, Leeward Lewis of Hobbs, NM and Venson Stewart of Colorado City, TX, and two daughters Debbie and Sharon Lewis of Hobbs, NM. She is also survived by 18 grandchildren Dr. Jasmine Bookert-Arbuckle (Jason), Mantinee Anderson, Meghan Heavens-Paul (Nathan), and Nichole Heavens, Lee’Brandon Parker, Antonio, Arasely, Kalina, and Lanni Lewis, Dondrell Austin (Jessica), David Austin, Dameyon, Michael, and Emily Lewis, Jalyasha and Donovan Dean, Crystal Stewart-Lloyd (Adam) and Christopher Stewart and honorary granddaughter Tammy Rogers. She is also survived by 13 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
