Emma Jean Hottell Claunch was born August 10, 1933 in Union County, Grenville, New Mexico to Willard Eugene "Gene" and Jewel Berry Hottell. She passed into the arms of Jesus October 27, 2017, at her home in Hobbs, NM.
In May of 1939 they moved to Aztec, New Mexico where Emma Jean started school and graduated from Aztec High School, May 15, 1951. She worked some at the Alturian Library in Aztec and traveled some in evangelistic work. She was ordained a minister with the Church of God of the Apostolic Faith and served with them until in the 1990's.
She went to work for the Treasurer's office in San Juan County for a short time before going to work for the Eleventh Judicial District Court. She was appointed District Court Clerk in March 1970 and retired from the Court in 1982.
After retiring she did some missionary work until she married Paul Claunch, the love of her life on April 15, 1990 and they traveled many thousands of miles working with the Gideons International. Her greatest joy was seeing or hearing of people coming to Jesus and living for Him.
She is survived by her two brothers, Willard Grant Hottell and wife Kathryn, of Bayfield, CO., Jacob Eugene Hottell and wife Sharon, of Aztec, NM; nephews, Brent Hottell, Zachary Hottell, and Johnathan Hottell. Three step children; Randy Claunch and wife Suzanne, Sandra Claunch; Ricky Claunch and wife Renee', Granddaughters, Amanda Louise Hardie and husband Isaiah, Kimberlee Renee' Claunch and four precious Great grandchildren; Amber, Shaley, Addison and Samuel Hardie. Many loved ones and friends.
She was a member of the Faith Assembly of God Church.
She was preceded in death by her precious husband Paul Claunch, her parents Gene and Jewel Hottell, and a nephew, Darin Grant Hottell.
