Graveside services for Emma Lee Ballew of Hobbs, New Mexico, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 6, 2009, at Prairie Haven Cemetery with Dr. Dean Mathis officiating.
Visitation is 8:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at Chapel of Hope Funeral Home.
Arrangements are under the direction of Chapel of Hope Funeral Home.
Mrs. Ballew, 89, died October 4, 2009, at Country Cottage. She was born October 21, 1919, at Spruce Pine, North Carolina. She married Billy Dugan Ballew on March 18, 1944, in York, South Carolina.
Mrs. Ballew was a homemaker. She was a member of the Senior Citizens Center and the Masonic Widows Club. Emma Lee had lived in Hobbs since 1961. During World War II, she worked in the textile mills.
She was a member of Taylor Memorial Baptist Church.
Survivors include special friends and caregivers Mary Roach and husband Bob of Hobbs, Sheryl Brown and husband Joe of Hobbs, Linda Smith of Seminole, Texas, and Wanda Baird of Lovington, New Mexico; a sister, Viola Powell of Gastonia, NC; a brother-in-law, Mack Haefner of Ft. Pierce, Florida; and several nieces and nephews.
Emma Lee was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Dugan Ballew; a son, Billy David Ballew; four brothers; and six sisters.
