Elton Goob M. Kesner, 76, was born in Greenwood, Arkansas on January 2, 1938 to Shirley and Mabel Kesner. He passed away on November 11, 2014 in Lubbock.
He graduated high school in Farwell, TX in 1956 and from Amarillo Barber College in 1957. In 1958 Goob moved to Hobbs. During his barbering career of 56 years, he ownedoperated Broadmoor Barber Shop and an Armstrong McCall Franchise. He enjoyed poker, golf, dancing, dragracing and spending time with family and friends. He served in the National Guard from 1961 to 1967. He was also a member of the Downtown Lions Club. He was a Die Hard Dallas Cowboys fan In honor of Goobs life, the family will be in attendance in Dallas Cowboy apparel. If you would like to and feel comfortable, please attend in Dallas Cowboy attire.
He is survived by his son Guy Kesner and wife Becky of Hobbs and daughter Eva Kesner of Hobbs and life partner Monte Soileau. He is also survived by his brother Manuel Kesner and wife LaDonna and his sister Norma Gazzaway of Amarillo, TX grandchildren April Boggs and husband Robby, Kara Wheeler, Alexis Graham and Cole Kesner, greatgrandchildren Juliya Boggs and Hunter Boggs, honorary children Lori Alvarado and husband Lalo of Hobbs and Chris Garcia and wife Laura of Midland, TX, honorary grandchildren Josh, Gabriel and Nicholas Garcia Andrea, Jessica and Roxy Alvarado and honorary great grandchild Alex Garcia, and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, a sister Melba Dean Kesner, brotherinlaw David Gazzaway and daughter Shannon Leign Kesner.
Visitation will be held Friday, November 14 from 116 and November 15 from 99:45 at Chapel of Hope. Services will be held Saturday, November 15 at 11:00 am at Taylor Street Church of Christ. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lea Lions, P.O. Box 1458, Hobbs, NM 88241 or the charity of your choice.
