Elizabeth Carlson

A celebration of the life of Elizabeth Althea Carlson will be held on Saturday June 2, 2012 at 4:00 PM at Chapel of Hope, 3321 N. Dal Paso in Hobbs New Mexico. Elizabeth Carlson entered to the arms of Jesus on May 31, 2012 at the age of 53 after a long valiant battle with Leukemia. Elio Barrios will officiate.
Elizabeth Carlson was born on March 3, 1958 in Cincinnati OH to Ruben and Ozela Catron, and died May 31, 2012 in Hobbs NM. She attended South Dade High School in Homestead FL, and later moved to Hobbs NM where she received her nursing LPN certification at New Mexico Junior College in 2001. A true blessing in life, as she cared for many peoples loved ones. Among her places of employment were Hobbs Health Care, Country Cottage, and Good Sam of Hobbs.
She entered into the bonds of holy matrimony with Dave Carlson on September 11, 2000. A firm believer in God, she practiced in the Baptist faith. Even while fighting her own battle with Leukemia she was unselfish and giving, making hats for other cancer patients in both Lubbock and San Antonio. She loved to crochet and enjoyed making jewelry.
Her parents Ruben and Ozela Catron preceded her in death as well as a brother, Larry Catron, brother in law Roger Griffis and son in law Scott Merkel.
She leaves behind a wealth of family members who will love and remember her always. Husband Dave Carlson of Hobbs NM, children Rob Slabaugh of Berrien Springs MI, Amanda Fisher, son in law Josh Fisher of Stevensville MI, Rachel Carlson of Lees Summit MO, and David Carlson the third of Lees Summit MO. Brothers and sisters, Martha and John Gartman of Hobbs NM, Mary Griffis of Hobbs NM, Doug and Kitty Welch of Chula Vista CA, Jack and Mary Alice Catron of St Louis MO, David of Cincinnati OH, and Ruben Buster Catron jr. Grandchildren Alexandria Merkel of Stevensville MI and Nathaniel Slabaugh of Berrien Springs MI. Also a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
