Edith Mae (Fields) Dallas was born on June 27, 1924 and went home to be with her Lord on June 24, 2016. She was the fourth child born to Charles Thomas and Bertha Mae (Atwell) Fields in Clovis, New Mexico. She attended schools in Clovis graduating in 1942 from Clovis High School.
Edith married the love of her life Weldon L. (Jody) Dallas on May 5, 1950 and spent 63 years by his side. They made their home on the family ranch at Caprock, New Mexico where they raised cattle and children. Edith was very proud to be a rancher's wife, and they always worked together as a team. She always had a keen fashion sense and enjoyed sewing and made beautiful quilts. Edith loved gardening and cooking and had a passion for creating healthy meals with great flavor. She also greatly loved her cats and her bobtailed cats were infamous. She was a member of Caprock Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school and later was a member of Tatum Baptist Church. She was a member of the Cactus Cowbells and Lea County Extension Club.
Edith is survived by her children Elaine McVay and Craig & Pam Dallas, her grandchildren Chris & Whitney McVay, Jared Dallas, Ryan McVay, Patrick & Shana Dallas, Alix & Vince Allen and Cammye & Jacob Everhart and her great grandchildren Scarlett & Beschen McVay and Baby Vin Allen. She is also survived by her sister Ernestine (Fields) Dunn, her brother Charles Fields and numerous beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and siblings: Jack and Gordon Fields.
"Miz Edith Dallas" was very well known for her sweet, gentle spirit. She never said a bad word about anyone. Her sweet spirit was reflected through her beautiful smile. Her smile has been described as warm and sincere enough to light up a room. Edith's family would like to especially thank the staff at Star Hospice, the staff at Good Life Memory Care and her friend and caregiver, Lucille Carter.
Honorary pallbearers will be: Jared Dallas, Patrick Dallas, Jerry Dunn, Rusty Dowell, Dallas Dowell, Charlie Fields, Robert Fields, Chris McVay and Ryan McVay.
