Duane P. Patton of Lubbock, Texas, formerly of Hobbs, NM was a kind man, loved by family and friends. Duane passed away Thursday, August 13, 2020.
Duane’s story starts on June 14, 1961, the youngest child of Gerald and Inez Patton. He was born in Hobbs, NM. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Bill. He is survived by ones that will miss him until they meet again, Martin and Sue Sedillo, Ismael and Sylvia Quintana, Otto and Wanda Terrell, Jeannie Landphair, Sue Benson, Tina Knelsen, Nettie, Annalee, Ava, Jodi and Crown Point family, and many more cousins and friends.
Duane had such a loving spirit and big personality. Duane graduated in 1979 from Hobbs High School. While in high school he was a broadcaster with KHOB.
He relocated to Fort Worth Texas where he was a system analyst with Radio Shack for 18 years. He was known for his computer skills and excelled in technology. He could be counted on to assist with any hardware and software issues.
He moved back to Hobbs in 2005 to be closer to his family after his diagnosis of Kennedy’s Disease. Duane was a follower of Jesus Christ and he attended Taylor Memorial Baptist Church. Duane continued his passion with computers, reading, master gardening, spending time with his dogs JD and most recent puppy, Little Girl.
Duane was a devoted friend as he met no stranger, had a quick wit with a sarcastic sense of humor.
Pallbearers are Otto Terrell, Martin Sedillo, Johnny Hopper, Manny Gomez, Bob Auld, and Ismael Quintana.
Duane was an inspiration to many as he displayed extraordinary strength and positive attitude with his fight against Kennedy’s Disease. His fighting spirit will live on through his Gift of Life Donation. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Kennedysdisease.org.
