Douglas Witherspoon

Douglas "Doug" Alfred Witherspoon, born November 14, 1943 in Holly, CO, passed away May 6th, 2016 at the age of 72.

He enjoyed fishing, drinking coffee, and hunting with his friends and family. He attended New Mexico Military Institute and graduated from Lovington High School in 1963. He continued on to higher education at Lubbock Christian University. Doug was loved by all who knew him, and he will be greatly missed.

He was preceded in death by his father Joe Witherspoon, granddaughter Ashley Rene Witherspoon, mother-in-law Marselle Cain, father-in-law Carl Cain, brother-in-law Eric Pyles, and niece Erin Pyles.

Doug is survived by his wife of 51 years Janey Witherspoon (Hobbs, NM), son Allen Witherspoon (Wolfforth, TX), granddaughter Siera Witherspoon (Dallas, TX), mother Enid Gates (Carlsbad, NM), brother Dee Witherspoon (Carlsbad, NM), sister-in-law Virginia Pyles, Sister-in-law Catherin Schroth and husband Bill, brother-in-law Thomas Cain and wife Diana, brother-in-law Michael Cain and wife Stacy, two very special people Jennifer Warden and Tammy Witherspoon, and many nieces and nephews.

We would also like to thank Dr. Homer and the Star Hospice Staff for their fantastic care.
