Douglas M. Weldy, 87, was born July 8, 1929 in Carlsbad, NM to Earl and Marion Weldy. He passed away in Hobbs on December 20, 2016.
Douglas resided in Carlsbad until he was drafted into the Army in 1952 and served two years. He married Jane in 1956 and moved to Hobbs in 1965. He was a family man. Douglas worked and retired from Watson's Truck and Supply, and later opened his own business; Doug's Valve and Tong Repair.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Jane Weldy; his daughter, Martie Switzer of Carlsbad, NM; sons, Edward Weldy, Dale Weldy (Twana), David Weldy, and Steven Weldy (Lana) all of Hobbs, NM; daughter, Tammy Luna (Marcus) of Palmer, TX; brothers, Kenneth Weldy of Pleugerville, TX and Gerald Weldy (Linda) of Monahans, TX; grandchildren, Joe Thompson, Doug Thompson, Tausha Wright, Jason Weldy, Jennifer Mercille, Catherine Martin, Julia Weldy, Cheryl Aguilar, Justin Weldy, Amanda Weldy, Joshua Weldy, Jonathan Weldy, Elizabeth Watson, and Colten Watson; numerous great and great-great grandchildren.
Douglas was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Evelyn Joy Weldy and granddaughter Tina Thompson.
Visitation will be 8:00 am - 7:00 pm Wednesday, December 28, 2016. Funeral services are 10:00 am, Thursday, December 29, 2016 with pastor Benny Greenlee officiating. Burial will be 2:00 pm, Thursday, December 29, 2016 at Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, NM. Arrangements are under the direction of Chapel of Hope Funeral Home, Hobbs, NM.
