Doris Evans

January 24, 1921 — March 9, 2014

Doris Dee Geneva Evans, 93, of Hobbs, passed away March 9, 2014 at Landmark at Desert Gardens Assisted Living Facility. She was born January 24, 1921, in Randlett, Oklahoma to James Henry Spivey and Dora Mae Cantrell. She was one of five children.

Dee married Billie V. Miller in Hobbs, New Mexico on July 1, 1943. She later married Daniel Webster Evans in Carlsbad, New Mexico on September 20, 1974. They made their home in Hobbs, New Mexico. She began her career at Hobbs Army Air Base, Hobbs, New Mexico. She later attended nursing training in Wichita Falls, Texas.

Dee enjoyed her home, visiting with her family, fishing, gardening, and canning her own vegetables.

She is survived by her husband Daniel Evans stepdaughters, Brenda Hart of Houston, Texas, and Danielle and husband Oscar Garcia, of Lago Vista, Texas son Billy L. Miller and wife Margaret of Evergreen, Colorado daughter, Carolyn Webster and husband Travis of Blanchard, Oklahoma best friend and only sister Dorothea M. Thorsen, of Chickasha, Oklahoma and 11 grandchildren, 28 greatgrandchildren, and a host of family and friends.

Dee was preceded in death by both parents husband Billie V. Miller brothers John L., James Nolan, Freddie Mac, and granddaughter Nancy Miller.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Lea County Hospital, the TCU Unit, and Landmark at Desert Gardens Assisted Living Facility for the care given to our precious loved one.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Thursday, March 13, 2014 at Chapel of Hope Funeral Home.

The final resting place will be at the Bellevue, Texas Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your favorite charity.
