Funeral services for Doris B. Amis of Hobbs, New Mexico, will be 11 a.m. Saturday, January 31, 2009, at Highland Baptist Church with Pastor Aaron Denson officiatshy;ing. Burial will follow after services at Prairie Haven Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation is noon-5 p.m.Thursday, 8 a.m.-8 p.m. Friday with the family in attendance at the funeral home from 5-8 p.m. and 8-8:30 a.m. Saturday.
Arrangements are under the direction of Chapel of Hope Funeral Home.
Mrs. Amis, 85, died January 24, 2009, at the Heart Hospital in Albuquerque. She was born January 25, 1923, in Holdenville, Oklahoma. She married Roy J. Amis on February 25, 1943, in Lompoc, California.
Doris grew up in Holdenville, Okla., and moved to California in 1942. She and her husband, Roy, moved to Carlsbad, New Mexico, in 1956, and Hobbs, New Mexico, in 1965 until the present time.
She was a member of Highland Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husshy;band, Roy J. Amis of Hobbs, New Mexico; a son, Roy E. Amis and wife Deloyes of Albuquerque, New Mexico; two sisters, Ruth Friend and husband Vernon of Midwest City, Oklahoma, and June Muscio and husband Clifford of Midwest City, Oklahoma; a brothshy;er-in-law, David Haywood of Midwest City, Oklahoma; three nephews, Dennis Haywood of Edmond, Okla., Gary Medley of Choctaw, Oklahoma, and Glenn Muscio of Choctaw, Oklahoma; a niece, Paula Brown of Midwest City, Oklahoma; two grandchildren; and four great-shy;grandchildren.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents, Hugh and Ida Miller, and a sister, Dorothy Haywood.
