Donnell Franklin was born on June 29, 1953 in Hamilton, Texas. He was the third child of eight children born to Freddie Lee Franklin Sr. and Hazel Bean. Donnell graduated from Jal High School where he played football, basketball and baseball. He married the love of his life Brenda on June 29, 1983. They were married 34 years.
Donnell passed peacefully from this life the morning of September 26, 2017 at the age of 64. A loving, supportive, hardworking family man, he enjoyed the many gatherings of family and friends at his home. Family and friends looked forward to his annual Super Bowl Party where he graciously served as host where good food and many laughs were shared. Donnell especially enjoyed football season and watching his favorite team the Dallas Cowboys. He enjoyed collecting Cowboy memorabilia and supported the team with a passion; through wins or losses. Donnell started his own Crude Oil Trucking Business 25 years ago. The very successful business allowed him to offer employment to several young men and provide donations to civic organizations in the Hobbs community, including supporting young adults pursuing their college education.
Donnell is loving remembered by his wife Brenda, three children, Shannell Franklin, Bernadette Cobarrubio, Bridgette Franklin; two sisters; Patricia Bean, Lois Bean; four brothers, Freddie Franklin, Luis Bean, Madison Bean, Parnell Bean and a special nephew/brother Mark Johnson; two Aunts; eight grandchildren; one great grandchild.
Donnell is preceded in death by his parents; Father Freddie Franklin Sr., Mother Hazel Bean, Step Father JC Bean; Sister, Earnestine Jackson and Sons Donnell Franklin, Jr. and Devin Franklin.
