Donna "Nannie" Davis

July 9, 1953 — December 27, 2024

Hobbs

Donna L. Davis (Fowler), 71, of Hobbs, NM, passed away peacefully on December 27, 2024, with her loving husband, Jerry Davis, by her side.

Born on July 9, 1953, in San Angelo, TX, Donna moved with her family to Hobbs as a child and called Hobbs home for the rest of her life. She attended Hobbs High School where she met her high school sweetheart, Jerry Davis. She always said she fell in love with him the minute she met him at Dick's Fina. They married on September 6, 1969, beginning a 55-year journey of love, faith, and family.

She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Bill and Wanda Fowler, and sister, Martha Fowler.

Donna's greatest joy in life was her family. She is survived by her adoring husband, Jerry Davis of Hobbs, NM; her daughters, Jadi Davis of Hobbs, NM, and Kristal Davis-Haskell and son-in-law Ryan Haskell of Frisco, TX; her cherished grandchildren, Clay Northcutt of Irving, TX, Tye Haskell of Frisco, TX, and Jaci Haskell of Norman, OK, who, affectionately, called her Nannie; and her beloved fur babies, Nala and recently deceased Lizzie. She had also recently connected with her half-sister, Judy Krause and husband Jeff, of Seguin, TX, and two half-brothers, Darrell Thompson and wife Lynn, of Seguin, TX, and Guy Thompson Jr. and wife Martha, of Gonzales, TX.

Her interests included gardening, homemaking, and most notably, her love language of cooking and baking delicious meals and treats for her friends and family. A short time before her passing, she blessed her family by cooking her famous stew and cornbread, buzzing about the kitchen with her daughters and granddaughter, one last time.

For those that knew her well, they would appreciate knowing a grade schoolteacher once wrote in a report card, "Donna would get better grades if she was not such a talker in class,' and another teacher wrote that 'Donna was one-of-a-kind and always lived on her terms,' which well-described her authenticity. She deeply treasured her family lineage and traditional values. She was one who loved a simpler time.

Though Donna's passing leaves a void that can never be filled, her legacy of love, kindness, and spirit will live on in the hearts of her family and friends. She will be deeply missed.

A remembrance of Donna's life will be celebrated when we bury her ashes next to her beloved mother and father after the new year with family and close friends.
