He returned from post war Germany in 1947 and was honorably discharged as a Corporal. He attended the Missouri School of Mines and Metallurgy in Rolla, MO and received a Bachelor of Science, Petroleum Engineering degree in 1951. In 1962 he left the oilfield for a business opportunity and moved his family to Harrisonville, MO and started Wiseman Oil Co. a distributor for Phillips 66. In 1978 he sold his business interests in Missouri and returned to Hobbs, semi-retired, to open Big Red Q Qwik Print with his wife Velma. In addition to his business life, Don served as Treasurer for St. Peter's Episcopal Church of Harrisonville, MO, and was a faithful member of St. Christopher's Episcopal Church of Hobbs and supported numerous charitable organizations. He found relaxation raising African Violets and numerous other plants and flowers, keeping a greenhouse room in his home most of his life.
