Donald Ray Aten, Sr., passed away peacefully at his home at the age of 77 on October 22, 2014. Don was a resident of Hobbs, NM for 39 years. He is preceded in death by the love of his life Sharon Aten and one son Timothy Aten. He is survived by two sons Billy Aten, Donnie and wife Debbie Aten, Grandchildren Melissa Vasquez, Bek and Mel Kjerimi, Sarah and Jarele Dean, Reina Aten and Mason Aten, Ashley Aten, , Tommy Aten and many great grand children and a very special friend Angel.
Don retired from the Navy as Machinist Mate Chief Petty Officer with a total of 30 years served. Don also worked in the oilfield for 32 years, many of which were at American Valve and Meter.
Don was loved and cherished by many people. He had a strong passion for fast cars and was an avid NASCAR fan. His Dodge Challenger, also known as Bad Ass kept him young and active in his last years.
