Don Martin

Funeral services for Kenneth Don Martin, 67, of Hobbs, will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, June 13, 2011, at Taylor Memorial Baptist Church with Pastor Dale Shook officiating. Visitation will be Sunday, June 12, 1 5 p.m. at Chapel of Hope which is in charge of arrangements.

Don was born April 11, 1944, in Lubbock, Texas, to Clifford and Stella Martin. He died June 8, 2011, in Lubbock, Texas. On August 15, 1964, in Hobbs, he married Belva Jean Stroud. He was a member of Taylor Memorial Baptist Church.

Mr. Martin owned Martin Meter for many years and started American Valve Meter in 1986. He played, coached and umpired baseball for most of his life. His hobbies included restoring antique cars and he was a member of the Roadrunner Antique Car Club for many years. He also enjoyed woodworking, riding motorcycles and golfing. He was generous to a fault and was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather.

Surviving Don is his wife, Belva Martin of Hobbs a son, Jerry Martin, and wife Rene of Hobbs a daughter, Kristi Mason of Hobbs four grandchildren, Chelsey Harris, and husband Justin of Hobbs, Bailey Martin, Lexi and Rylan Mason all of Hobbs a brother, Steve Martin and Debi of San Luis Obispo, CA and sisters, Kay Johnson, and husband Bill, of Redlands, CA, and Debbie Hoover, and husband Steve, of Yucaipa, CA.

Preceding him in death was his father, Clifford Don Martin, mother, Stella Mae Cowan Martin, and brother, David Martin.
