Don Johnson

April 14, 1932 — September 9, 2018

Don E. Johnson went to be with his "Lord" on September 9, 2018. He lost his battle for life due to complications from an extended illness.

Don was born on April 14, 1932 in Tioga, Texas. He was one of four sons and two daughters of John and Radie Johnson. Don grew up in Tioga and moved with his family to Hobbs, NM in 1946. Don joined the Army in 1955 and served his country in Washington, DC till 1957. It was there he met the love of his life, Peggy McKeehan of Elizabethton, Tennessee on a blind date. They were married on May 4, 1957 and moved to Hobbs, NM., where they lived together until his death. Don worked for many years at Arco Oil and Gas until his retirement in 1992. He loved watching baseball, working in his garden and spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents John and Radie Johnson, his brother Cortez Johnson and sister Johnnie Johnson.

He is survived by his wife Peggy Johnson, of the home, daughter and husband, Donna and Ronny Choate of Hobbs, NM, grandson Chris Choate of Hobbs NM, grandson and wife Neal and Chrystal Choate of Dallas, Texas, brothers Fred Johnson of Roswell, NM and Gerald Johnson of Durango, Colorado, sister Margie Ross of Las Cruces NM., and numerous nieces and nephews.
