Don Dismuke

A funeral service for Don Dismuke of Hobbs, New Mexico, will be 2 p.m. Monday, November 2, 2009 at Chapel of Hope. Mr. Jamie Sparger, nephew of Mr. Dismuke, will officiate, assisted by Pastor Jerry McArthur.

Burial will follow at Prairie Haven Memorial Park.

Arrangements are under the direction of Chapel of Hope Funeral Home.

There will be a private visitation for family only. There will be a book to sign at the funeral home on Monday from 8 a.m. until service time.

Mr. Dismuke, 76, died October 31, 2009, at Nor-Lea Hospital in Lovington, New Mexico. He was born October 5, 1933, in Chillicothe, Texas. He married Gwen Gipson Dismuke on August 1, 1957, in Hobbs.

Don worked in the petroleum industry until his retirement. He had a small acreage and enjoyed farming and ranching. He liked watching the animals and growing vegetables, especially tomatoes. Don was a people person and enjoyed drinking coffee with friends and playing all kinds of games. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and a member of the Hobbs Masonic Lodge No. 63. The men of the lodge will conduct rites.

Survivors include his wife, Gwen of the home; a son, Joel Dismuke of Yoakum, Texas; a daughter, Donna Dismuke Dean of Katy, Texas; a sister, Bobbie Horner of Pinellas Park, Florida; and five grandchildren, Taylor Dean of Katy, Texas, Logan Dean of Katy, Texas, Amanda Long of Yoakum, Texas, Morgan Long of Yoakum, Texas, and Konner Dismuke of Yoakum, Texas.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Lois Dismuke and his mother-in-law, Fannie Gipson.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospital.
