Funeral services for Dois H. Maness of Hobbs, N.M., will be 4 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2008, at Chapel of Hope Funeral Home with Dwayne Shults of Oklahoma City, Okla., officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens.
Visitation is. 4-6 p.m. today at Chapel of Hope Funeral Home.
Mr. Maness, 96, died Feb. 11, 2008, in Hobbs, N.M. He was born July 10, 1911, in Erath County, Texas. He married Florence Shults on July 2, 1972, in Roswell, N.M.
As a young man he farmed in Portales, worked on a dairy farm in Clovis and in 1951 moved to Hobbs and worked for Ralph Johnson Rig Co. He went to work for Tidewater and retired with them, known as Texaco at that time.
He was a member of Jefferson Street Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife, Florence Shults of Hobbs; a daughter, Shirley and husshy;band McCoy Kerley of Hobbs; a stepdaughter, Willie Mae Hicks and husband Herbert of Ruidoso; a stepson, James Shults and wife Helen. of Hobbs; a brother, Douglas Maness of Las Cruces, N.M.; a sister, Imogene Johnson of Lovington, N.M.; a sister, Bill Owen of Portales, N.M.; nine grandchildren; nine greatshy;grandchildren; and 11 greatshy;great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Douglas and Lucille Maness; his first wife, Nona Johnson Maness; a brother, John D. Maness, TD; and three sisters, Hazel Todd, Alice Carsrud and Tama Monette Maness.
