Delwin Roy Patterson was born on November 17, 1957 to Allen and Johnnie Mae Patterson, Jr. in Hobbs, NM. He graduated from Hobbs High School in 1975. He worked for the City of Hobbs in the Environmental and Animal Shelter Departments for 24 years. He also worked for Hobbs Municipal Schools. He retired from employment in 2013. Delwin was raised in Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church where he was later ordained as a minister by his grandfather the late Rev. F. W. Wells. He was also a member of Chooselife Church.
He was an amazing athlete excelling in both track and field and football. He was gifted at preaching the word of God. He enjoyed listening to music. He was an awesome cook and according to him he had the best barbecue in town. He loved his family and the joy of his life was his kids and his grandchildren. He was a big fan of the Hobbs Eagles and an even bigger fan of the San Francisco 49ers.
He is survived by three daughters, Crystal Hilliard of Lubbock, TX Kandis Taylor Elijah and Kawin Nunnery Terrel both of Hobbs. Three sons, Thomas Templeton of Hobbs, NM, Shayne Patterson of Frisco, TX, and Dellonte Patterson of Arlington, TX. One brother, Vernon Patterson Susan of Charlotte, NC, and two sisters, Lillian Mosley William and Ava Burnett, both of Hobbs. One grandson, Tre Taylor and three granddaughters, Hannah Taylor, Skye Nunnery and Sasha Nunnery. He had numerous aunts and uncles and a host of nieces and nephews. Delwin was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
