Delfina Chavarria

Delfina P. Chavarria passed from this life at her home with her family at her side, on Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2014, after battling cancer. She was born April 30, 1942 in Artesia, NM to Julio Perez Sr. and Elisa Ruiz Perez. She married her beloved husband of 53 years on July 22, 1961 in Artesia, NM.
Better known as Dale or Mimi, she had an immeasurable love for her family. Her boys, grandchildren and great grandchildren were her passion, especially when she watched them play sports or dance. Dale loved all Hobbs Eagle Athletics but Hobbs Eagle Basketball was her favorite. An Eagle fan to the core, you could always hear her infamous yell no matter if they were winning or losing. She now has a front row seat to ALL of the games.
Dale is survived by her husband Frank of the home and her four sons: Pete Chavarria and wife Donna, Edward Chavarria and wife Dina, Fredrick Bubba Chavarria and wife Julie and Frankie Chavarria all of Hobbs. She is also survived by six sisters and five brothers: Delia Sanchez of Artesia, NM Lupe Guajardo of Hobbs Carolyn Navarrette of Hobbs Cruz Luevano of Odessa, TX Edna Leyba of Hobbs Gloria Benavidez of Hobbs Julio Perez Jr. of Artesia, NM Albert Perez of Las Cruces, NM Henry Perez of Dumas, TX Joe Perez of Las Cruces, NM and Steve Perez of Hobbs as well as eleven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents a sister, Virginia Madrid and a stepsister Maria Fierro.
Visitation will be held on Friday, November 21, 2014 from 8 am to 8 pm with a Prayer VigilRosary recited at 6 pm at Chapel of Hope Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Helena Catholic Church on Saturday, November 22 at 1 pm. Committal Service of Christian Burial will immediately follow at Prairie Haven Memorial Cemetery in Hobbs.
Dale will be remembered for her love of life, love of Christ, love for her husband and family, and love for all of her many dear friends. She was the heart of her family and everyones Mimi.
