D'Edward Huerta

DEdward L. Huerta, 50Big D was born to Pete and Janie Huerta on October 1, 1963 in Hobbs and passed away Monday , September 22,2014 in Hobbs . A black cowboy hat, boots and wranglers, and infectious smile,a man that never met a stranger. He started his career in the oilfields of Eastern New Mexico and West Texas when he was 17 years old. He worked beside his father and brother at Hobbs Pit Lining and went on to manage and own several companies over the years. In his early years he loved the rodeo life, especially team roping.He drove for the Cooper family and Flap Simms for many years. He took great pride in participating in the Special Rodeo events for children. Youngest of three, he could always be found along side his big brother Donny at any racing event promoting their lifelong family business of drag racing with the Mexican Jumping N Bean wheelstander throughout the United States .He worked with James Cecil Auctioneers over the years and always referred to Jim Cecil as his brother. They were the best of friends from high school . DEdward loved his Steele Horse , his Harley.. loved riding with his extensive group of friends over the years, shared many miles with them. The ultimate loves of his life were his family, son, Seth Bryant Hill Huerta, daughter Jade Marie Huerta, granddaughters Hayden and Braylee, his mother Janie, big brother, Donny and wife Carla, nephews Justin Dass and Cameron Huerta and special friend Robin McCann and her daughters. Preceded in death by his father Mexican Pete Huerta , brother Joe David and grandparents. Numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services will be Monday, September 29, 2014 at 10am at Chapel Of Hope funeral home, with Pastor Ty Bean Officiating. Burial will follow at Prairie Haven Memorial park.
