Darrell Dean Parker, Sr., 72, died Sunday, August 12, 2012, at his home in Hobbs, New Mexico. A memorial service will be Thursday, August 16, 2012, at Chapel of Hope in Hobbs at 10:00 a.m. Visitation will be Wednesday, August 15, noon 6 p.m. and 8 a.m. until service time on Thursday at Chapel of Hope.
Mr. Parker was born April 24, 1940, in Lawrence County, Illinois, to Alton and Laura Midgett Parker.
He attended high school in Seminole, TX, and Eunice, NM. He served 4 years in the U. S. Navy, from 1959 1963, completing boot camp in San Diego, CA, and then being stationed mainly in Las Vegas, NV.
Darrell continued his education at New Mexico Junior College, graduating in 1975 with an associates degree in applied science. Much later in life, he graduated again with a bachelors degree from the College of the Southwest.
He enjoyed working on cars and watching his son and grandson drag race. He also enjoyed spending quality time with his newest grandson, Aidan.
Mr. Parker is survived by one son, Dean Parker, of Hobbs two daughters, Debby Fisher of Lubbock, TX, and Deana Freeman of Orangevale, CA two grandsons, Derek Parker of Hobbs and Aidan Fisher of Lubbock, TX one brother, Lloyd Parker of Hobbs one sister, Elaine Robertson of Eunice, NM and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alton B. Parker and Laura Florence Midgett Parker a daughter, Dinah Danette Parker a grandson, Christopher Lloyd Parker and one brother Alton Scott Parker.
