Corine Hicks

July 31, 1902 — March 11, 2009

alignjustifyAfter over 106 years of a glorious life, Corine went to be with her Lord and Saviour Wednesday, March 11, 2009. She passed away peacefully at Hobbs Health Care Center. Corine was born July 31,1902, near Frost, Texas. As a young girl, she worked the cotton fields.

alignjustifyIn her twenties, she met and married Hubert Hicks whom everyone called Dude. Early 1953 they moved to Hobbs where Dude had other brothers. In March she went to work for Gen and J. O. Smith as a Nanny and Housekeeper for their three-year old Identical Twin Boys.

alignjustifyShe helped raise them and. instilled in them her beliefs of taking care of others with compassion and deep faith, which her Boys which she called them all of her life, continue to do so with their patients and friends, as Doctors. As the twins grew, she, continued to work, and in her spare time worked as a floral designer at the Smith's flower shop. She loved to garden and was a quilter, hand stitching every quilt, which many have today to cherish. .

alignjustifyThough Corine was very independent and lived alone after her husband's death in 1982, the.Smith and Zespy family continued to guide her and take care of her every need. They considered her a member of their family, as she did. She worked part time until the early 1980s. In 2005 she moved to Hobbs Health Care where everyone who came in

contact with her loved her smile and sweetness. You could always count on a smile. Never in her over 106 years did we ever hear a complaint or an unkind word - A Lesson for Us All.

Corine used to say, I DON'T KNOW WHY THE LORD HAS LEFT ME HERE SO LONG, BUT HE MUST HAVE A REASON.
