Clifford Frank Henson was born on February 21, 1951, in Hereford, Texas to David and Evelyn (Frost) Henson. He was called home to Heaven on September 30, 2019, in Hobbs, New Mexico.
Clifford graduated from Hobbs High in 1971 and enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving aboard the U.S.S. Ogden LPD 5 during the Vietnam Era.
Clifford was a Mason and Shriner as well as a past President of the Eagles Lodge. He was a lifetime member of the VFW and American Legion.
Clifford married Wanda Horseman Lara on December 20, 2006, in Lovington, New Mexico. They shared over 17 years of wonderful, crazy love. Clifford was blessed with the ability to fix almost anything. He taught us to love and respect others, to open doors for ladies and to take your hat off in the house. The family considered him a blessing, even if he could be pretty stubborn at times.
Clifford was preceded in death by his parents, David and Evelyn, brother; Edward Henson, stepdaughter Debra Lara, granddaughter; Evah Marie Gonzalez and great-grandson; Samuel Jackson, as well as numerous family members and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Wanda, sister; Elisha Bixby of Lovington, brother; David Henson (Karen) of Caddo Mills, Texas, as well as stepdaughters; Janie Lara and Vanessa Hernandez (Rene) of Hobbs, sons; Clifford Allen Henson, Bryant Vreeland and Phillip Johnson. He was a loving “Paw” to 14 grandchildren who thought he hung the Moon and Stars. His 6 fur babies will forever be waiting for him to come home to snuggle on the couch.
He was a firm believer in Paying it Forward, so in lieu of flowers he would have appreciated a donation to the Lea County Humane Society or Lea County Shriners to keep the kindness of their services continued.
