alignjustifyClaudia, 93, of Hobbs passed away in her home March 18, 2009, where she resided for 35 years.

alignjustifyGraveside services will be held Monday, March 23, 2009, at 11 a.m. at Woodbine Cemetery in Artesia, New Mexico. Reverend Joe Akins will officiate.

alignjustifyArrangements are under the direction of Chapel of Hope Funeral Home in Hobbs.

alignjustifyClaudia, daughter of Claude and Myrtice Ingram, was born May 4, 1915, in Maysville, Oklahoma.

alignjustifyShe was the beloved wife of the late Ace Horton Lewis for 41 years, whose occupation was water well drilling. Claudia and Horton lived in the Lovington and Roswell areas and settled in Hobbs in 1974.

alignjustifyClaudia was the dear mother to Margaret Akins, Barbara BeIer, Mary Perry and Erma Mayberry and stepmother to Evaline Perry; Linda Jo Jones, Betty Polovina, Yvonne Brown and Bud Lewis.

alignjustifyShe was preceded in death by her sister, Bertha Manika, and brothers Russell, Floyd and Val Eugene Ingram.

alignjustifyShe is loved and remembered by a sister-in-law, Ruth Ingram; three half brothers, Marrion, Claude Jr. and Bennet Ingram; four half sisters, Lucille Brown, Bonnie Sinor, Maudie Skinner and Lavern Aker; two grandsons, Eric BeIer and Landon Mayberry; six granddaughters, Barbara Zwernemann, Shirley Watkins, Sarah Jenkins, Laura Beam, Leslie Goetz and Donna Mayberry; seven great-grandsons, Paul Beaird, Timothy Beaird, Dayne Watkins, Justin Jenkins, Heath Beam, Catlin Mayberry and Zane Mayberry; one great-granddaughter, De Layne Spicer; three great-great-grandsons, Corbin, Colton and Cohen Beaird; and one great-great-granddaughter, Ella Rae Spicer.

alignjustifyClaudia remarried the late Carl Blackwell in 1981, only to have a few precious months together.

alignjustifyClaudia was very independent in her quality years and enjoyed dealing in small business ventures. Her hobbies were crocheting beautiful throws and gardening. Claudia had a lot of close friends in Hobbs and the Abilene area who will miss her.

alignjustifyThe daughters are grateful to VistaCare Hospice for their dedicated assistance in 2007 and brief assistance in 2009, and her devoted doctor, Sambaiah Kankanala, M.D.

alignjustifyThe family members will be honorary pallbearers.
