Christopher DeSantos Hemphill, a beloved son, brother, grandson, boyfriend, and friend, passed away on Friday, July 5, 2024 in Alamogordo, NM.
Christopher graduated from Alamogordo High School in 2020. Christopher's athletic spirit was most visible on the soccer field and running track, as he had done since 7th grade. He played football, basketball, and ran track for his mother's alma mater, Albany High School in Texas. He played soccer for Newport High School in Oregon and ran track for La Pine HS in Oregon, where he went on to State for the first time as a Freshman. Outside of school, Christopher spent time with his family on adventures and hanging out with his friends.
Christopher's kind heart and adventurous spirit touched everyone he met. He was known for his ability to light up a room, his dancing skills, and his contagious smile. His infectious smile never left his face, even during the most challenging times. In the last couple of years, Christopher had a love for motorcycles, which he enjoyed doing with his friends and his dad, Eric. He was able to spend his only Father's Day riding up the mountains of Cloudcroft and Ruidoso with his dad.
Christopher is survived and deeply missed by his loving parents, Eric and Lorena Hemphill of Alamogordo, NM; his sister, Kaitlyn Graham, of Comanche, TX; his girlfriend, Michele Rodriguez and their son, Miguel DeSantos Hemphill, of Hobbs, NM. He also leaves behind his maternal grandmother, Guadalupe Alcaraz of TX; his paternal grandparents, Harry and Mary Hemphill of Oregon; and aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends. He was predeceased by his maternal grandfather, Alfredo Alcaraz of TX and his paternal great-grandparents, Chet and Mary Hemphill of Washington, and his cousin, Shannon Frydenlund of Oregon.
Christopher's legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew him. His kindness, laughter, and love for life will continue to inspire all of us. His life, though short, was a testament to the impact one individual can have.
My dear Christopher, may you rest in peace, mijo. You are forever in our hearts. Thank you for our cherished moments and the beautiful blessing you left behind, our grandson. - Love, Mom.
