Chris Lyons

December 20, 1967 — January 1, 2014

Christopher Michael Lyons, 46, died peacefully at home January 1, 2014 after a valiant health battle. Chris was born December 20, 1967 in Hobbs, New Mexico.

Chris attended Hobbs High School Class of 1987 and New Mexico Junior College. He worked in various shops in Hobbs, learning his craft before beginning his own business, CL Design, in 1998. He designed and created graphics and signage for many businesses in Hobbs and the Permian Basin, including the Hobbs Police Department, Hobbs Fire Department, the Lea County Sheriffs Office, and many other municipal agencies around the state. He liked working closely with local law enforcement agencies, and supported many charitable organizations with his services.

Chris enjoyed working at gun shows in the area and could frequently be found at Gunns Guns. He loved to refurbish, redesign, and rebuild guns. His ability to find unique and clever solutions to any construction or fabrication problem earned him a McGuyverlike reputation. Chris could always find a way to make it work. He also loved owning and working on classic muscle cars with his many friends.

Chris was always willing to help anyone and teach or share his knowledge and experience. He tried to put a smile on each persons face as he went through his day. He genuinely cared about each one who touched his life.

Chris was a bright spot in the lives of all his family and friends, who loved him very much. He will be truly missed by all who knew him.

Chris is survived by a brother, Steve Lyons and his wife Susie of Plymouth, Michigan a sister Mauri Su Wimberley of Hobbs niece Shelly Krepfl, husband Mike, and daughter Kaitlin of Albuquerque, New Mexico niece Melyssa Lyons of Seattle, Washington and nephew Steven Lyons, and son Josh, of Traverse City, Michigan.

Chris was preceded in death by his parents, Lamar and Dodee Lyons, of Hobbs, and many Okie relatives who taught him a love for the Oklahoma Sooners.
