Charlie Seed

Charles Charlie E. Seed, 90, of Hobbs, New Mexico passed away December 25, 2013 at his home. Charlie was born September 1, 1923 to Charles Emery and Sadie Mae Wease Seed in Eastland, Texas.

Charlie married Sally in September of 1964 in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Charlie graduated from Odessa High School. He graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Chemistry from Texas Tech University. Mr. Seed was in the Army Air Corp, which is now the U. S. Air Force. Charlie was in Air Rescue 3 and 4. Mr. Seed served in the Pacific Theater during WW II. He served in Eniwetok, Saipan, Tinian, Iwo Jima, Kwajalein, Tarawa, and Guam during this time. Charlie flew rescue missions on the third experimental bomb dropped at Bikini Atoll. He flew the following planes: C47, B25, B17, P38, AT6, B15, C46, C54, AT11, C45, and PT22. Charlie was qualified to fly Air Force One under President Eisenhower. Charlie retired as Lt. Colonel after 28 years of service.

Charlie was in the car business for many years. He worked as General Manager for Spaniol Ford. He also was active in the ranching industry.

Charlie was a Jehovahs Witness by faith. Family were his greatest joy.

Charlie was preceded in death by his parents a brother, James Seed, and an infant brother.

Mr. Seed is survived by his wife Sally of Hobbs two sons, Sam Seed and wife Lisa, and Chris Seed, all of Hobbs grandson Clint Cooper, and wife Amber of Decatur, Texas grandchildren Sierra and Charlie Seed of Hobbs greatgrandchildren Canden and Casen Cooper of Decatur, Texas niece Suzanne Butler of Odessa, Texas nephew Dr. Tom Cushing and wife Dr. Yasmin Magdaleno Cushing of Albuquerque sisterinlaw Dr. Alice Cushing of Albuquerque greatniece and greatnephew, Juliana and Lucas Cushing of Albuquerque. Also Christina Seed of Hobbs.

Visitation will be from 26 p.m., Friday, December 27, 2013, and 89:30 a.m., Saturday, December 28, 2013 at Chapel of Hope Funeral Home. Graveside services will be led by friend of the family Danny Townsend, at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 28, 2013 at Lovington Cemetery, Lovington, New Mexico.
