Charles "Buck" Jones was born June 11, 1933 in Anadarko, OK to David Ok Jones and Oma Lorene Jones. He passed away in Hobbs on July 11, 2016.
Buck and Bootsie moved to Hobbs, NM in 1952. He worked in the oilfield for several years before opening the 1st Bootsie's Western Store in 1974. Buck loved roping. He competed and hauled kids to rodeos most of his life. When his children were young he would haul them to AJRA rodeos and helped to produce the American Junior Rodeo Association Finals. He continued to rope in the Senior Steer Ropin up into his seventies. Family, rodeos and roping were his life.
He is survived by his wife Becky Jones; sons, DeLynn and Kathy, Marty and Donna, step-daughter Cheryl Parrish; six grandchildren, Shelli Jones, Ashley Jamison (Caden), Macy Lane (Danny), Caden Jones, Hunter Parrish and Morgan Parrish; and eight great-grandchildren; sister, Debbie Ray (Matt); several nieces and nephews.
Buck was preceded in death by his parents; the mother of his children, Bootsie Jones, daughter; Gwen Sue Smith; sisters, Vivian Chase and Joyce Courson.
