Cecil Woods

Cecil Woods was born December 8, 1926 in Alvord, TX to Alfred Thomas Woods Madeline Ilva Green. Cecil was raised in Artesia, NM where he met and married his wife, Lavern Woods, on May 12, 1945. They moved to Hobbs in 1965 where they lived until moving to Midland, TX in 2003.

Cecil served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was honorably discharged May 24, 1946. After 24 years with Occidental Petroleum, he retired in 1989. He was a member of Taylor Memorial Baptist Church in Hobbs and a member of the VFW. Cecil was a longtime member of the Hobbs Masonic Lodge 63 AF AM where he served as Worshipful Master from 1985-1986. He was also a member of the Scottish Rite, the York Rite, the Shriners and served as Distrid Ufe Deputy Grand Ledurer in 1995.

Cecil Pop to his family enjoyed hunting, fishing and caring for his yard. He liked to fix things and will be remembered for his great sense of humor by his many friends. He was an honest Christian man who loved life, and never met a stranger.
