Cecil Marvin Castle, Sr. was born February 9, 1929, in Tuskahoma, OK, and went to be with our Lord October 19, 2012. He was the youngest of five children born to Armon James Castle and Myrtle Barton Castle.
Cecil worked for the State Highway Department 4 years. He then was employed by El Paso Natural Gas Co. for 12 years. His favorite place of employment was for the City of Hobbs Fire Department, for 28 years, where he served as driver, EMT, instructor and fireman from August of 1966 until his retirement in February of 1994. He was also a member of the Buzzards, the first class in New Mexico. He also had served on the first school board for Parkland Elementary School in El Paso, TX, in 1957.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Lorene five children, Elizabeth Van Winkle of Hobbs, Cecil Marvin Castle, Jr. of Lovington, Mary Lou Thomas of Monument, Judy Pennell, and husband Bobby, of Hobbs, Janet Davis, and husband Randy, of Hobbs grandchildren, Donna Dunham, Debbie King Chadwell, Cecil Marvin Castle, III, Nacolla Reyes, Jayson Thomas, Chris and Matt Davis, Adam Pennell and Amy Garcia greatgrandchildren, Daniel and Josh Hoover, Courtney Dunham, Dakota B. Reynolds, Kaylee King, Brenden Glaze, Ethan and Alexis Parra, Kaitlyn, Ryan and Kimber Davis greatgreatgrandchildren, Axil Hall Sativa Reynolds and Stryker Hoover and sisters, Quava James of Alamogordo and Lucille Allred of Oregon.
He was preceded in death by his parents Armon James and Myrtle Barton two brothers, Albert and Noel Castle a son, James Charles Castle a grandson, Jimmy Ray Reynolds and a granddaughter, Elizabeth Ann Agnew.
Services are under the direction of Chapel of Hope Funeral Home and will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 24, 2012, at Church of the Nazarene, 2900 N. Fowler in Hobbs. Visitation will be 8:00 a.m. 7:00 p.m. Tuesday. The family will be in attendance from 5 7 p.m. Interment will be in Sudan, TX, where he will be laid to rest next to his son. Services will be officiated by Rev. Ken Yoakum and Pastor Guy Coup.
