Catherine Cathy Carlile Sims was born September 25, 1954 in Hobbs, New Mexico. After suffering a massive stroke, Cathy went to be with her Lord and Savior on December 6, 2013.
Cathy spent her youth in Lovington, graduating from Lovington High School in 1972. She went on to get her Bachelors Degree from Ft. Lewis College in Durango, Colorado. She found her niche in life where she could give to her hearts fullness by serving as a social worker for the State of New Mexico. She was a tremendous advocate for animal rights. Cathy had a passion for Wedding Cake Ranch, which she and her husband Flap owned. She enjoyed Bluegrass festivals, especially the one in Telluride, CO. Cathy was a giver to everyone and anyone. She always acted as the social director for all family events a favorite of which was trips to Estes Park, CO.
Cathy is survived by her husband of 18 years, Leo Flap Sims, II mother, Nancy Carlile Green, sister, Paige Carlile Kerr both of Austin, TX three sons, Brandon Miller of Fort Collins, CO, Silas Miller of Austin, TX, and Cody Sims of Folsom, NM two grandsons, William Cary Miller and Aiden Christian Miller, both of Hobbs brotherinlaw, Nick Stevens of Loveland, CO three nieces, one nephew, and her many beloved pets.
She was preceded in death by her father Winford Harold Carlile sister, Sarah Carlile Stevens William Miller, father of her sons Brandon and Silas Miller and niece, Lygon Elizabeth Stevens.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00pm on Tuesday, December 10th, 2013 at the Christian Center 4024 W. College Lane, Hobbs. Cathys cousin, Minister Mark Howell will be officiating.
