Carolyn Stone,79, formally of Hobbs, NM passed away peacefully on June 2, 2021.
Carolyn was born October 7, 1941 in Floyd, TX to Edward and Louise Vaughn. Carolyn spent most of her upbringing in Greenville, TX where she graduated high school.
She then went on to receive a BA in Nursing from Texas Woman's University. After graduation she began work at Parkland University Hospital in Dallas, TX where she met and later married the late Dr. William C. Stone. After their marriage in 1963, the newlyweds traveled to Korea in support of Dr. Stone's army service. In 1967 they began their permanent home in Hobbs, NM where they remained a vital part of the community for 50 years.
Carolyn is best known for her great talent as an artist. While she performed many different types of art from painting and drawing to jewelry making her true love was ceramics. She is best known by those
that knew her for her ceramic pots and sculptures. Many of which are in the homes of friends and loved ones all over Hobbs. She also loved to garden, host parties and events at her home with Dr. Stone. Carolyn served many years as a preschool teacher on Sundays at Taylor Memorial Baptist Church.
Carolyn and Dr. Stone were active members at Taylor Memorial Baptist Church for nearly 30 years where they had many close, lifelong friends.
She is survived by her son Steven and wife Mindy Stone of Leander, TX, her daughter Allison and husband Randy Ausbern of Weatherford, TX, grandchildren Jacob Anderson, Noah Anderson, Aaron Anderson, Avery Ausbern, Ryan Stone, and Brodie Morris, her sisters Linda and husband Ted Bolch, Janet and husband Tommy Hobbs, Jill and husband Dan Locklear, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband William Stone; her parents, Edward and Louise Vaughn; and infant son William Kent Stone.
