Wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and friend Carol Jean Johnson of Eunice, New Mexico died Friday, November 22, 2013 at Lea Regional Hospital after a long illness.
Carol Jean Pate was born in her family home near Maude, Oklahoma on September 22, 1943. She attended school at Monument, NM, and then graduated from Hobbs High School.
She married Wilbert Fred Johnson of Hobbs, on January 18, 1964. She has been a lifelong member of Monument Baptist Church. Her hobbies included genealogy and art. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
Carol is survived by her husband Wilbert Fred Johnson of Eunice, NM Mark and Sara Johnson of Roswell, NM Kevin and Stephanie Johnson of Fate, Texas and Jeffrey and Tracy Johnson of Carlsbad, New Mexico. Carol prayed for and received six grandchildren Morgan Johnson of Roswell, NM Ashly Johnson of Las Cruces, NM Carissa and Jillian Johnson of Fate, Texas and, Guy and Clair Johnson of Carlsbad, NM.
She was blessed with a wonderful extended family and lifelong friends.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Horace and Mabel Pate siblings, Dale Pate, Alva Earl Pate, Janice Moorhead, and Mary Jane Haviland.
Funeral services to be held on Tuesday, November 26, 2013 at Monument Baptist Church, 11:00 a.m., officiated by Matthew Price.
